Week One Review

Anna BelowBuild Season, News

Due to inclement weather, we were limited on time the first week of this year’s build season. We follow the local school board’s weather policy, if students are released early from school or not in school for a day, we don't meet! When we came back to the shop, Ami, the Marketing Team leader said, “I’m glad to be back at the shop because this is my last year on the team and . . . make it to Houston again like we did last year.” Everyone is very optimistic about how the season will turn out, despite the weather conditions playing against us. Our First Mate, Wyatt said, “It has been fantastic working with our friends and students so far and I definitely think we will be done by the end of build season.”

When we were able to safely come to the shop, we started working our hardest to make up for lost time. Paxton, our Safety Captain said, “We’ve managed to keep things to a pretty safe standard like we always do.” The Safety Team has been giving everyone Safety Talks every day which center around general safety topics to keep everyone safe.

Despite the weather setback, optimism surrounding the progress our team made this first week. A new member Tyler said, “Overall, I think we're doing really well right now, and we should be able to catch up on everything from the week lost.” Alexander, also a new member, said, “Our first week went pretty well, we were writing our ideas on the board.”

A little ice and snow won’t kill these pirates' spirits!
