Week Five Review

Anna BelowBuild Season, General

Weeoo, Weeoo, Weeoo!
Fire alarms are blaring!
Tick-tock!, Tick-tock!
The time is running off the clock!

The Pirates are really feeling the time pressure of the last weeks setting in. With Week 5 over and Week 6 about to begin, everyone is racing to finish their last little tasks. Bag and Tag will be here before we know it! Engineering has made progress in morphing the robot from a wooden jigsaw puzzle into a metal beast! Members worked together to help push our robot along to where it needs to be! Caleb said, that the engineers succeeded in "getting the climber system onto the robot!"

No one was exempt from feeling the Crunch! The Design Team was wrapping up designing the robot in time for the engineers to build the last details of the robot! Members of both Engineering and Design are staying after the rest of the Pirates go home in order to finish before time runs out!

The sAfe Team has also been putting in extra hours. They organized a fire drill for the entire shop this past weekend. It went extremely well with everyone exiting the building safely and following the protocol that the sAfe Team put in place for our shop. In a final push for safety, the sAfe Team has started a two-week tool safety course for all members to close out this season strong in safety. The sAfe Team also started packing the safety kits for competitions and put together the hygiene kits for the Homeless Shelter.

And lastly on Saturday, the Technical Assassins (FRC Team 3796 from Windsor, NC) came to visit the Pitt Pirates and Boneyard workshop. Both teams shared their knowledge on a variety of topics with Team 3796 members. Keenan, Engineering member, said, “I enjoyed helping them with their talon  motor controls. It was a great opportunity to help another team.”

We are looking forward to seeing them at ECU for the first NC FIRST Robotics Competition for 2018 on March 10th.
