About FTC Team 13735

The PiRates, FTC Team 13735, made their debut this year with FIRST Relic Recovery.  Several of the members are also on FRC Team 2642 Pitt Pirates and FRC Team 2682 Boneyard. Pitt County Robotics funded the team and actively mentors the team as well. They utilize our Pitt County Robotics and Technology Solutions of Eastern Carolina shop on Clark Street to build and program their robot, Dunk Master.

The FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) is designed for students in grades 7–12 to compete using robots they were responsible for designing, building, and programming  in a 10-week build period. The robot is programmed using Java or the MIT App Inventor. Teams  are required to develop strategy and build robots based on sound engineering principles. Awards are given for the competition as well as for community outreach, design, and other real-world accomplishments. The ultimate goal of FTC is to reach more young people with a lower-cost, more accessible opportunity to discover the excitement and rewards of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics.
