Our Motto: In Scientia Vires

2008 marked the beginnings of the original Pitt County FIRST Robotics Competition team. Named the after the school mascot, the Falconators started their journey at South Central High School through generous funding from Mr. James Harris. The inaugural team  was a small group of students mentored that first year by Team 435, the Robodogs, out of Raleigh, NC.
After the first year, the team began to expand, adding team members from other local high schools. Recognizing the need to expand membership, the team name was changed to the Pitt Pirates—as we were all from Pitt County and the Pirate mascot had universal appeal.  Each year since the 2008 season, we have increased our membership and representation  from the local high schools.  Our team is still growing because we recruit from all six high schools in Pitt County.
Our team members enjoy spreading the word about science, math and technology. To that end, we have made a number of civic and community presentations showcasing our robots and spreading the word about FIRST robotics.  We were proud to be part of the first NC regional held at Dorton Arena in 2010, and we are excited to continue to share our legacy of STEM education at each competition we attend.
