A few words on Attendance

Bill McClungGeneral

As we get ready for the coming season, I just want to remind everybody how important it is to be at the meetings, events and workshop days. We need you there. A lot of folks have been great about letting me know if they can’t attend a meeting or event, but it’s not the same as being there. We are monitoring attendance and it is part of the equation for grades (if you decide to use this program for Spring Course Credit) and how we select students for the leadership and special teams. Mentors need to see you in action so we can get to know you and decide who will do the best job for our team. Team members need to be there for the fun and not-so-fun jobs. As a team, everybody needs to be involved in the fundraising, outreach and work events to make this program happen. During the build season, this is especially important. If you miss more than a few build sessions you may find that you don’t have that job when you come back. We just don’t have the time during the build season to wait for people. We’ll put out a more detailed schedule for the build season very soon. Be prepared! It will take a lot of effort. This year, I would really like to raise the bar. That means everybody needs to be on site and on task. I know we can be a powerful competitor this year, but it’s going to take everybody. GO PITT PIRATES!
