Work moved quickly along this week in the shop!

The shop was packed every day here in the 2642 shop! Engineers started to build the parts for the robot and the designers are tidying and finishing up their designs! Safety prepared and gave daily talks about Safety Kits - how and when to use them as well as where in the shop they are located. Marketing remained hard at work on daily Social Media posts, website updates, taking pictures for Team Spotlights, and making promotional posters and flyers! And lastly, the programming team continued to work on coding the robot for Destination Deep Space!

I asked Nikita, our 2642 Safety Captain, about how this week has gone in her opinion. This is what she said, “It’s gone really well.”, “I’ve mostly worked on the safety talks and the quizzes for the upcoming week.”,”...we reached over 1,000 shop safety hours.

It is only week three and the engineers have already finished building their first chassis! I interviewed Mr. Gresham, one of the Engineering Mentors, about how building the first chassis has gone and he stated that “It’s going very, very well! We were able to get the entire chassis assembled"'"...the guys and gals are now putting the wheels on and everything together.”

In Outreach news, we had a very full week! We put on 3 full day Space Robotics camps at A Time For Science at the beginning of the week. The kids had a BALL! And then to end the week, 2 of our mentors judged at an FTC tournament while a large group of our members attended the tournament after shop hours to cheer on the PiRates, our sister FTC team under the Pitt County Robotics umbrella.
