While it is the end of Week 4 and we are feeling the crunch, everyone has been hard at work and accomplishing tasks on time.

The 2642 shop was bustling this week with activity! Engineering continues to build parts for the robot and designers are finishing the designs for the shooting mechanism, masts, the climbing mounts, the supports, and the breaks! Kelsey Law, the co-leader of Design, feels that the CAD drawings are coming along nice and said, “This week has gone really well. We’re almost finished with the designs so now we’re working on finishing the finer details. Let’s just say we’ve been able to take a big breather!”

Marketing worked on posting daily on social media, writing thank you notes to sponsors, making team spotlights, and updating the website. They also worked with the team's #FIRSTLikeAGirl subteam on drafting and sending out a letter with Gadget Girls FRC #4816 to all North Carolina FRC teams inviting them to join us in spreading the #FIRSTLikeAGirl campaign message of creating an environment where  FIRST girls feel empowered and can thrive and grow.

Safety gave daily talks on ergonomics and sickness prevention. Next week, they’ll be covering tool safety!

At the beginning of the week,  Lisa Stokes and Spencer Walston from Altice USA, one of our newest sponsors, came to visit us at the shop! They are committed to connecting the next generation of innovators to the real-world application of science, technology, engineering, and math. When we asked why Altice decided to partner with FIRST, Lisa replied, “STEM education is one of our pillars that we focus on in all of our areas we serve… so with FIRST Robotics, we could touch a lot of teams at once because there are so many teams that are footprinting with Altice USA, so we could just give back and see what y'all can do! The equipment that y’all are already using is incredible. We learned so much from the beginning to the end!” Altice USA is sponsoring four teams in NC this year. Thanks again for coming, Altice USA!

Then midweek, we mentored the PiRates FTC #13735 team with marketing and their engineering notebook. We introduced them to Canva software and showed them how to visually layout text and pictures to best convey their message. We also gave them pointers on how to better organize their engineering notebook. They were such fun to have in our shop and help out. We love their energy and they caught on quickly to our tips. We wish them all the best in several weeks at their next competition!

What will Week 5 bring us? Stay tuned!!
