Speaking of exciting news, EON is open for business! EON (East of 95) is an FRC practice half-field provided by the Pitt Pirates for use by Eastern NC teams. EON provides teams with the opportunity to test their robots and practice with the field elements.

Feel free to come out and give it a try!

A big thank you to all volunteers who helped build the 2019 field.

The Inspire team submitted Chairman’s this Thursday! Everyone is glad that it was not a nail-biter; we even had 12 hours to spare!

Marketing has been “inspired” to spend the last 7 days updating media and writing thank-you cards to our sponsors. We are so grateful for all the funding and materials that we receive! Maintaining a strong relationship with our community is important for our morale and opens many doors in the future. The week 5 safety talks were focused on tool safety. Though all of our engineers have been extensively trained in individual tools, we had many insightful speeches to remind us that you can never be too careful. Tip of the week: if you don’t know how to do something, ask! Buckle up for next week’s safety talks… First Aid!

Engineering is all hands on deck to have a working robot by Sunday night. Next step: drive team practices. The design team is finalizing and updating the last pieces needed for the robot, and the finish line is in sight! Programming, according to Dylan, the team captain, has been coding basic drive functions and is starting to work on autonomous motion. The programming team also had enough  to say about tearing heart-shaped biscuits in half.

Here in the shop, we are healing hearts instead. We recently came together to fill Valentine’s Day goodie bags full of treats that were made for local memory care patients. Pitt Pirates enjoy sharing the love--and candy--at every chance we get.

On Friday and Saturday, we also had the opportunity to advise and help out NEAAAT’s FRC team #7715 when they visited our shop. We shared marketing tips and engineering assistance. We are thankful for their new perspective as well. We are wishing the Robo-Banditos the best of luck in this year’s competition season!

The Pitt Pirates are ready to sail into week 6, and finally fly away to Destination Deep Space!
